Abstract: This paper reported the physiological characteristic of Castanopsis hystrix A. DC. seeds as "recalcitrant". Through a series of experiments, tests and analysis, it was found that the principal conditions for their storage are: suitable low temperature 15~20℃, most suitable moisture content of seed 36%~37% and the measures of effective prevention in getting mould which included the treatment with suitable antiseptic agent solution and slow aeration. To control the most suitable moisture content may be achieved by adjusting the moisture content of coconut dust mixed as a medium at about 25% above 25℃, or 30% below 20℃.
