Abstract: Leaves of in vitro Populus deltoides, P. nigra and P. euramericana were used as explant to be transformed with antibacterial gene LcI which was synthesized according to the sequence of antibacterial protein of Bacillus spp. It was demonstrated that the insect mortality of this antibacterial protein to Anoplophora glabripennis was more than 75%. Transformants were selected by 40 mg/L kanamycin, and the rooting percentage was about 80.7% in the rooting media supplemented with 40 mg/L kanamycin. PCR analysis showed that antibacterial gene has been successfully transformed into these popalr chromosomes.
